Artist of the Week

This week’s “Artist of the Week,” Becky Arnott considers herself a “Jack of all Trades.”

As a child, she started painting with her grandmother and would do small landscapes in oil.  Her love of art evolved from there and, today, she has so many artistic interests that it is hard to choose her favorite.  She has recently started concentrating on portraits of both people and pets and works from photographs of her subjects.  A true animal lover, ten percent of her commissioned pet portraits is donated to the Scott County Humane Society.

Becky is also heavily involved with the “buy local” movement.  “I’m on my own personal crusade to encourage the folks who live in this area to shop local first and keep the money in this region,” she says.

Aside from painting, Becky is also an avid writer and recently started her own blog at http://theartofpositiveliving.blogspot.com.  Becky will be demonstrating her work on Thursday, March 17, from noon to 3 p.m.  Since it is St. Patrick’s Day, she has graciously promised to bring refreshments and provide a door prize.
